Personal Share: The Wake-Up Call
Since November, I have been in a season of realignment. Last September was one of my lowest points, and by October, I was just pushing through, running on fumes. But in November, I hit pause and asked myself, "Where am I really going?"
And that is something we all need to do sometimes. Step back, reflect, and take control of our own path. So I did. I made some bold and dramatic changes, let go of what no longer served me, and started adding more value, more joy, and more purpose into my life.

Keeping Your Goals Alive Beyond January: A Realistic Approach

New Year New You? We are almost in February and I am wondering, did you stick to your new year’s resolutions?
In the past, I would set huge and ambitious goals only to feel frustrated when I could not keep up. But this year, I tried something different. Small and consistent steps. And guess what? It is working!
Making Resolutions Stick: The Long Game
Break Down Your Big Goals
Instead of "exercise more," start with "10-minute walks during lunch breaks"
Track small wins in a simple journal or phone app
Celebrate monthly milestones, not just yearly ones
Build a Sustainable Routine
Stack new habits onto existing ones (e.g., meditation right after morning coffee)
Start with 1-2 changes at a time, not a complete life overhaul, that leads to burnout!
Plan for obstacles and have backup strategies ready
Create Accountability Systems
Share goals with a trusted friend or family member
Schedule monthly check-ins with yourself
Join online communities with similar goals
Keep visual reminders in frequently seen places
Maintain Motivation
Write down your "why" and revisit it regularly
Take progress photos or keep a progress journal
Plan rewards for hitting intermediate goals
Adjust goals as needed instead of abandoning them
Deepening Connection with Your Child: Beyond Physical Presence

Here is a secret. Kids do not need perfection. They just need YOU.
Yes, they love their games, toys, and all the extras, but more than anything, they want your time, your attention, and your presence. I have seen this firsthand with my son. He may love his gaming system, but at the end of the day, what he values most is quality time together.
So let’s make things simple. Let’s show up, slow down, and make meaningful moments happen.
Quality Time Strategies
Create Technology Balance
Set boundaries while still embracing modern interests
Play video games together occasionally
Have tech-free hours where alternative activities are planned
Designate meal times as phone-free
Make Moments Count
Turn chores into bonding time (cooking, folding laundry together)
Use car rides for meaningful conversations
Create family traditions (Sunday game nights, Saturday morning pancakes)
Plan monthly special outings based on their interests
Practice Active Listening
Put down your phone when they talk
Ask follow-up questions
Reflect back what they're saying
Validate their emotions
Be Present in Their World
Join in their play, even if it's not your thing
Let them teach you about their interests
Sit and watch them play sometimes without interrupting
Show interest in their achievements, no matter how small
Remember: Consistency beats intensity. Small, daily moments of connection often mean more than grand gestures. The key is being fully present in whatever time you have together, whether it's 15 minutes or several hours.
I am so excited for this season of realignment, and I cannot wait to share more with you. Drop a comment below and let me know, how are you simplifying life this year? 💬💛
With Wellness, Learning, and Joy,
Lauren
